Seagrave Wolds Challenge

Welcome to the Seagrave Wolds Challenge website

2016 was a record year. We raised over £10,000 which went to: Barnardo’s, Seagrave All Saints Church, Rothley & Mountsorrel Heritage Centre, The Royal British Legion, and The Village Hall redecoration and maintenance fund. As usual, all the proceeds from this year’s event will go to support a mixture of local and national charities.

2017 will be our 13th consecutive Challenge. We are winding the clock right back and will be serving up a route similar to one of our very first events. The 16 mile route has not yet been finalised but we hope to be taking in the villages of Wymeswold, Rempston, Prestwold, Burton-on-the-Wolds, Walton-on-the-Wolds. We should get some nice views of the lovely Wolds countryside and, with support from local landowners, getting rare access across private land.

The 2016 event sold out and we’ve held the entry price at last year’s level. To avoid disappointment, you are advised to head to the “How To Enter” page and register early!

2016’s Roll of Honour

  • 1st to make the finish was Tom Yates in 1:54:18
  • 1st lady Challenger was Sarah Thorp in 2:07:18
  • 1st Senior Challenger was Peter Collinge in 2:24:02
  • 1st Junior Challenger was Hannah Stewart in 2:54:05
  • 1st walker home was David Weavers in 3:39:13
  • Last to arrive home (and rightly proud of it) was Virupa Ramachandran, just beating her 7 hour target. Well done.

Well done to everyone who finished this years Challenge.

Some statistics for 2016

  • We had a record total of 672 registered Challengers when entries closed.
  • There were 507 runners and 165 walkers.
  • We had a record number of dogs on the 2012 Challenge, with over 20.
  • We had 106 runners and 53 walkers either retire of fail to make the start line.
  • We had a record 513 finishers and no injuries reported.
